Postdoc (m/f/d) in the field of Leukemia and Chromatin Biology

We are looking for post-doctoral researchers (wet-lab and computational) to join our research group. These positions offer a unique opportunity to answer important questions in the fields of chromatin biology, hematopoiesis and leukemia, and to have a direct impact on the development of new cancer therapies.
Our group (www.seruggialab.com) is interested in gene regulation in the context of pediatric cancer, and focuses on the study of non-coding regulatory sequences (enhancers, boundary elements) as well as protein complexes involved in the control of gene expression (transcription factors, co-activators). We use genome editing (CRISPR screenings, CRISPRi/a, dense mutagenesis), chromatin profiling (ChIP-seq, CUT and RUN, ATAC-seq), proteomics, mouse models and computational approaches to identify and characterize cancer vulnerabilities. The project is funded by a Starting Grant from the ERC and will investigate how mutations at enhancers drive leukemia development and will elucidate the effect of sequence variation at transcription factor binding sites. Our group is also affiliated with the CeMM, where we have access to top-notch facilities for next-generation sequencing, proteomics and metabolomics as well as structured PhD and postdoctoral programs.

As a postdoc, you will
- Work on competitive, exciting projects aimed to dissect mechanisms of gene expression in cancer
- Collaborate with scientists at the CCRI, at institutions in Vienna and with international partners
- Contribute to the supervision of junior group members, write manuscripts and grant applications
- PhD in a relevant subject (molecular biology, cancer, hematopoiesis, computational biology, statistics)
- Proven track record (at least one first-author publication in a reputable journal)
- Background in molecular biology, genomics and hematopoiesis
- Prior experience in flow cytometry and mouse models (wet-lab applicants)
- Experience with processing of -omics data, ability to generate ad hoc tools and pipelines (computational applicants)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (German not required)
- Good team player, enthusiasm, commitment, and creativity
